Kyoto: cherry first flowering · 2026 reporting season
Kyoto’s 2026 first-flowering record becomes more useful when read with its full-bloom partner. The two observations show a 7-day interval; they do not describe the length of a viewing season.
A seven-day progression
Kyoto’s first-flowering and full-bloom records are seven days apart. Tokyo opened four days earlier but reached full bloom only two days earlier. The comparison shows why one city’s opening announcement is a poor substitute for another city’s own observation.

Read the normal comparison separately
JMA’s 2026 table puts this first-flowering observation 3 days earlier than its listed normal first-flowering date of 26 March.

A city observation is not a temple schedule
A Kyoto station milestone cannot establish the condition at a particular temple, hillside or garden. Select the actual destination and check its own dated report, access and visiting conditions. The name Kyoto covers many possible outings that this one monitored observation does not distinguish.

Official reporting season: 2026 Station: Kyoto (京都) Observed phase: first flowering (開花) Observation cell: 3月23日 Observed date: 2026-03-23 Source: https://www.data.jma.go.jp/sakura/data/sakura_kaika.html The date comes from the observed-date column, not the normal or previous-year columns. The reporting year is verified against the visible h1 and page title; the stale table summary attribute is ignored. Station code 759 and the reviewed English station label are carried over from the exact Japanese station identity in the historical baseline; the current HTML identifies stations by name. GIZUMO selected six stations, rendered the two phase labels in English and normalized observed dates. No source metadata-update timestamp is supplied for individual observations. HTTP retrieval or Last-Modified times are not observation dates. These are past observations in the current reporting-season table, not live tourist-location conditions or forecasts. A zero in the separately preserved cumulative CSV does not establish that this HTML source has no current-year observation.
